Today we hiked up Shrine Mountain. Here is the view from the top:
We took I-70 to Vail Pass, then drove on Shrine Pass Road for awhile (it's dirt), then parked at a trail head and walked a couple miles to Shrine Mountain.
It is peak wildflower season. The Indian Paintbrush were breath-taking, especially mixed in with purple lupine and larkspur!
The Indian Paintbrush were "blooming" in four different colors: red, pink, white, and orange:

It was very nice because we left the dogs at home with a pet-sitter for this two-day visit to the mountains. I took hundreds of wildflower photos, and never once had to pick up dog poop.
