Hi Dad,
Yesterday, we had a neighborhood-wide garage sale. I bought a used bike for $50!
I wanted a "town bike" to leave up in Frisco, and this fits the bill perfectly. It's a 2002 Trek hybrid bicycle with full suspension. (My first bike with full suspension.) And a kick stand! I haven't had a bike with a kickstand since I was a kid!
Paul helped A LOT to get it all fixed up by installing new brake pads, servicing the wheels and tires, and installing the bike rack. Meanwhile, I scrubbed it clean and then installed a "courtesy bell" for the multi-use bike paths I plan to ride on, as well as blinking lights (front and rear), a new saddle, bottle cages, new pedals and toe clips, and a bike pump. Then I dug up a small saddle bag to hold my tool kit, and I was good to go!
(Can you believe, all those accessories came out of our collection of bike parts-- we're practically hoarders!)
After supper, I rode halfway to Breckenridge along the bike path:
The last time I road on this bike path was in 1999: It's the same section of path we road on the cross-country bike tour. Indeed, I was wearing the very same bike helmet. (Um, birthday gift idea: new bike helmet!)
