A student at one of my high schools made a conducting baton as a gift for me! Her dad has a lathe.
School finished last week, so her teacher brought it over to me at my house last night.
Isn't it beautiful? It almost makes me wish school was back in session. Almost!
I'm not sure what type of wood the handle is made of. It's an exotic... perhaps Padauk.
The stick is also made of wood. Oak?
I'd better not rap it against a music stand!
Rarely do I take a picture that makes the small bump on the side of my thumb look so obvious... It's from playing thumb position on the cello!
